dc.descriptionMastering English as a second language is currently a necessity because it is considered a global language. People around the world use English to communicate for a variety of purposes, among them education, science, or information technology. In English language learning, the writing skill is essential, because it is an important element for communication. Students need to develop good writing skills to convey a message with clarity and as an opportunity in life (British Study Centre, 2020). Some difficulties in the writing skill were observed at Centro Educativo Naciones Unidas, a private institution located in Samborondón, Guayas province. It was perceived that students of 2nd year BGU have some difficulties to use appropriate vocabulary for writing in a formal way, expressing thoughts confidently and applying APA style. Students write with little awareness of the audience, cannot express their opinions, or produce full sentences with appropriate meaning and form.
